After Black played oki in White's four-point nakade on the left side (with ), White starts taking outside liberties from Black's top right group with , not preceding it any longer with the forcing exchange of , .

Instead, Black is allowed to start this exchange with , gaining an advantage of two points (the exchange of , remains White's privilege). Cheng gives the score now as "Black + 2", but really, it should have been jigo, as it was in his 1988 book ([LIT. 3]; 762).
