Variations of Our Solution (IIIb)

Tricking KataGo (Triple-Ko)

VAR (C) (A) (.1) (.2)

: ( 222ab)
White defends her position at the top.

This move might be difficult to find for KataGo (2020).

It gains only one point here, but KataGo cares for winning probability, not for the margin of White's win. White will still win the game by using her move in the superordinate variation.

In a comparable position, with White's atari at the top starting the endgame "late", this connection loses one point overall, compared to alternative choices ( 222gd).

:
It is best for Black to defend his territory in the lower left corner.

Any other move would be at least one point worse overall.

:
White must push into Black's upper left corner just now.

She must not wait with this and the ensuing moves in the upper left until after her decision point.
Connecting at would be gote then, giving Black the opportunity to exchange for , so gaining one point.

:
Connecting her stone is sente for White.

: (A 222aj ; 119 222ak)
Black must defend his cutting point at just now.
Please note that this move loses a tempo in the Main Semeai, so Black is back to par with the Punishment Semeai Liberty Level thereafter.

Black is unable either to force with now, or to continue with the Main Semeai in the upper left.

:
The Main Semeai continues.

Black must not play any reduction.

White will descend to at the upper edge after her decision point.
