Variations of Our Solution (IIIb)

Tricking KataGo (Triple-Ko)

VAR (C) (A) (.2) (.2)

: ( 222bf)
Black's push in the upper right will destroy some points of White's territory in the guzumi area.

:
White blocks.

She might simplify the matter by immediately connecting at .

:
Black's second push at the edge is also an atari.

:
White blocks, creating a ko shape.

Again, she might simplify the game by connecting at just now.

:
We simplilfy the presentation by not starting the ko fight at the right with . Black simply captures White's single stone at the upper edge here.

With this move, Black is par with the Punishment Semeai Liberty Level again.
Please note the special ko formation in the upper right. By capturing at , Black gets back one tempo in the Main Semeai. Black threatens to continue capturing with , so White will have to connect at that point - sooner or later, compensating for Black's loss of a tempo before.
Just connecting with is simpler for White, and has the same effect

:
White blocks immediately.

:
Black is able to connect.

:
Sooner or later, White will have to connect the ko.

Here, in this subvariation, White will be better in the Semeai Variation than in the Capture Variation. Therefore, playing the wedge in the left centre is not interesting here, as it would lose one point in the Semeai Variation.

:
The Main Semeai continues.

Black must not play any reduction.
