We will assume here that Black does not want to sacrifice these stones; therefore, he defends his cutting point in the corner.

As a matter of course, Black could live in the corner e.g. by descending to . However, after White captured Black's -stones, she would no longer need to capture the hanezeki's tail, so avoiding the accompanying loss of about 25 points.

Again, Black defends his -stones.

White destroys Black's potential eye at the upper edge.

The remaining territory in the corner is too small for two eyes. Black's corner will die.

White will win the game by a large margin.
