  • White destroys two points of Black's territory in the left centre.
  • White captured Black's stone in the lower right, so gaining two points.

In total, Black lost one point.

White + 1 => White + 2

Semeai Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • Black's cumulated gain at the upper edge is three points.
  • Black captured an additional two White stones in the left centre, so gaining two points.
  • White captured one Black stone less in the lower right, so losing two points.

In total, Black gained seven points.

White + 1 => Black + 6
