White's descent is a strong move, but will fail to kill Black's stones unconditionally.

Black occupies White's liberties in the corner, forcing her into a ko fight.

This move loses one liberty in the Main Semeai (if answered), and therefore must not be played as a ko threat.

However, the situation is hopeless for Black, as the same is true for every other ko threat that White is forced to answer locally.

White cannot ignore , because Black is alive in the top left corner, but White still has only one eye at the left edge (and therefore would be forced to eventually capture the hanezeki's tail anyway)

White might also continue the ko fight by recapturing at , instead of heading for the Punishment Semeai, which she will win now.
Please note that White will not connect her two stones in the lower left with a move at .

White will win the game by a large margin.
