VAR (.2)

!!! For the discussion throughout this sub-variation, we assume that Black abandons the right to play the Hanezeki Exchange. !!!

:
White makes use of this in sente.

: (C 565)
This is the latest moment that Black should play this atari. It prevents White from starting the Semeai Variation with , instead of , so gaining an additional point of territory at 114. In principle, Black could have played this sente move earlier in the game, but now a ko cannot develop any more. So playing this atari earlier, losing a ko-threat, may be technically incorrect.

:
Later, White will choose the Semeai Variation.

:
The outcome of the semeai remains unaffected. White has captured one extra Black stone (), and thus has gained two points.

The game now ends with Black winning by only one point.
