Here, Black captured six stones in the upper right ( White wins this sub-variation by one point. However, her fate depends on the size of Black's ko-threat, so we prefer an unconditional sequence for our solution. If White had not played the endgame on the left side "early", Black would have two absolute ko-threats inside the seki in the lower right corner, so White could not play this way successfully. | |
