Strangeness During the Creation
of the Hanezeki
|
During the sequence that creates the hanezeki in the lower right corner, after all of the partial groups have been cut off from each other, there are several moves that deserve attention, and explanation. We did not find sufficient commentaries in the professional sources, so we tried on our own to better understand this very special, and strange, formation. |
|
First of all, there is Black's classical move at |
|
Next comes Black's first throw-in at |
|
Black's second throw-in at |
|
Finally, there is the forcing exchange of |

. Please note that Black - in the professional solutions - has not played immediately the cut at
instead, which would enable him to build an eye in this area, so gaining quick life for his large group in the upper right.
, not commented in the professional sources, but badly needed - at least in the classical solution - to spoil White's shape, and to reduce the liberties of her group above by one.
, condemned by Fujisawa Hideyuki ([LIT. 2; page 43]; he played this move at
, which is unnecessary, and just losing a ko-threat after the second throw-in. However, it must be played (as
,
) in the classical professional solutions, again not affecting the final semeai, but preventing a small territorial loss for Black, thus making it technically correct there.
