White occupies another liberty of Black's large group in the upper right, for demonstrative purposes.

:
As a matter of course, Black should have played this throw-in as early in the game as possible, if he wanted to follow the classical line of play. It seems best to do so immediately after White connected the upper cutting point (= ) in the hanezeki.

:
White tries the Punishment Semeai again, but will not succeed any more. Having played at , instead of at , cost her upper group in the hanezeki a decisive liberty. This explains, why the first throw-in in the hanezeki is mandatory for Black with the classical line of play.

:
Black is one move ahead in the semeai, and will win the game.

In the case of the single throw-in in the hanezeki, the Punishment Semeai does not work any longer for White.
