Variations of Our Solution (I)

Black tries the guzumi.

:
As "usual", White plays the kikashi in the upper left corner now.

:
Black cannot jump to , instead. His earlier move at (= ) weakened his shape in the upper left corner decisively.

:
Black cannot afford to lose his upper left corner.

:
Black has no other option left but to attack White's group on the left side.

:
After Black captured White's lower partial group, White fights back in the upper left corner, taking advantage of Black's weak shape there.

:
With this hane on the first line, we have reached a position in the upper left corner that will be analysed in detail much later ( 532). It will result a double-ko in White's favour, enabling her to capture Black's marked stones for two eyes. Black's large group in the upper right is dead, so capturing White's left side earlier provided no benefit for Black.

In contrast to the "usual" line of the hanezeki's tail's building sequence, playing the guzumi is no longer feasible for Black, once the Crosscut Sequence has been started.
