Variations of Our Solution (IIIb)

Tricking KataGo (Triple-Ko)

VAR (C) (A) (.2)

: ( 222ao)
Black continues the Main Semeai with defending his potential territory in the left centre, instead of capturing White's two stones in the lower left.

: ( 101 222er)
Again, we begin with White's classical atari, starting the endgame at the left side.

As a matter of course, choosing the tsuke of Yamada Shinji, instead, would be better.

:
It is best for Black to defend at the top.

:
White is now able to connect her two stones, because no large endgame spot is remaining on the board that Black could benefit from.

:
White lost two tempi by her connection in the lower left, so Black is able to push at the top, in sente.

Thereafter, he plays 2/2 reductions.

Capture Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • Black destroyed one point of White's territory at the top.
  • Black did not capture White's two stones in the lower left, so losing four points.
  • White did not capture Black's stone in the lower right, so losing two points.

In total, Black lost one point.

Black + 1 => Jigo

Semeai Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • Black destroyed one point of White's territory at the top.
  • Black captured an additional White stone in the lower left, so gaining two points.
  • White captured an additional Black stone in the lower right, so gaining two points.

In total, Black gained one point.

Black + 4 => Black + 5
