!!! In this sub-variation, we will assume that White wants to win unconditionally. !!!

:
In order to avoid any ko-variation, White must secure two eyes for her group on the upper edge.

Quite surprisingly, Black saves his nakade stones on the left side now, apparently leaving a lot of stones in the upper right to their fate.

It would be worse for him to follow the seemingly "easy" way to life by capturing some of White's stones with a move at .

:
But White has no other option than to live on the left side.

Having lost the nakade stones to Black implies the massive loss of internal liberties for White's group there. Therefore, starting the Main Semeai of our solution by reducing Black's large group in the upper right to only one eye would be a hopeless request.

:
As a matter of course, Black has to build two eyes now, too.

:
White will gain some points in the subsequent endgame. But she will be unable to decisively reduce Black's territory in the upper left corner, which will win Black the game.
