Black plays 2/2 reductions.

Later, White will play her kikashi , in the lower left corner, so that Black must capture with before the end of the game.

Capture Variation:

Compared with the superordinte variation ...

  • Black's cumulated gain at the upper edge is three points.
  • White got an additional two points of territory in the left centre.
  • Black's cumulated loss in the lower left corner is two points.

In total, Black lost one point.

White + 1 => White + 2

Semeai Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation, ...

  • Black's cumulated gain at the upper edge is three points.
  • White got an additional two points of territory in the left centre.
  • Black's cumulated loss in the lower left corner is two points.
  • Black captured an additional White stone in the lower left corner, so gaining two points.

In total, Black gained one point.

White + 1 => Jigo
