Variations of Our Solution (III)

VAR

: ( 503)
White has a large follow-up in the upper left corner – resulting in an AlphaGo-ish whole-board exchange – that we haven't noticed before.
Instead of connecting at in the hanezeki, White plays the hane in the upper left corner.
Black is unable to answer locally, because White will take sente to connect her four stones in the hanezeki with a move at , returning to the main line of Our Solution. Black will have lost a decisive amout of points in the upper left corner, compared to the main line, and so lose the game.

: (A 566e)
Black has to continue in the hanezeki and must capture White's four stones that were put in atari just before.

Black must not mistakenly connect the Hanezeki's Tail with a move at , instead. This move will be two points worse, so he cannot hope to win the game any longer.

: (A 566b)
White kills the upper left corner.

White can also choose capturing the hanezeki's tail with a move at , instead, leading to the same final result.

:
Black inserts this atari, forcing White to capture at , before connecting the hanezeki's tail with .
Black's forcing move at the left prevents a White atari at the same point.

:
White plays her sente moves before connecting at .
White threatens to continue at , capturing Black's four stones at the left.

:
White threatens to extend to , reanimating her single stone at the bottom, and also capturing two Black stones.

:
The endgame continues with Black's push in the upper right.

White does not need to connect at A at the left edge. The semeai of her group at the left with Black's group in the upper left corner will result in a large eye for White vs. a small eye for Black. Black's group does not have sufficient outside liberties to compensate for this disadvantage.

Black wins by two points.

White gained one point by choosing a large trade on the board.
