Black's connection hopes for the ishi-no-shita in the corner.

White keeps Black from easily creating two eyes.

Thereafter, and bring the ishi-no-shita into play.

However, White is able to play elsewhere, because – sooner or later – Black will have to capture at anyway; the lower part of his group does not have an eye.

White's oki is the final blow. Black is unable to divide his eye space with a move at ; White would simply capture at .

White wins the game.
