Black has lost six points of territory (), compared to our solution, but White's group on the left has also lost six liberties ().

This means that Black can afford to lose six liberties of his group in the top right, while playing moves that search for compensation for his loss on the left side of the board.

White continues with the "usual" sequence.
White has lost six points of territory (, , ), compared to our solution, and Black's group in the upper right has lost no more than also six liberties (/). So, seen overall, the situation now is the same as in our solution.
