No Early Kikashi

VAR (.2) (.2)

: ( 648go)
White blocks at the upper edge, but this move is played too early.

:
Black is able to play his forcing move at the upper side, ...

:
... as well as capturing White's single stone in the upper right.
Compared to the alternative subvariation above, White unnecessarily lost one point by not pre-empting Black's forcing move.

In principle, Black loses two Main Semeai Liberties by this move. But becomes an approach-move liberty of his group, so the net effect of this move is a loss of one Main Semeai Liberty.

:
The Main Semeai continues.

Black plays 3/3 reductions.

Please assume the rejection of Dany's Sacrifice and Black's second kikashi in the hanezeki (, ) played before.

Capture Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • White's cumulated gain by blocking her upper side is two points.
  • Black destroyed two points of White's territory in the upper right.
  • Black gained two points by capturing White's single stone in the upper right.

In total, White lost two points.

White + 2 => Jigo

Semeai Variation:

  • White's cumulated gain by blocking her upper side is two points.
  • Black destroyed one point of White's territory in the upper right.
  • White gained three points by capturing an additional two Black stones in the upper right.
