Black might consider simply continuing with the Main Semeai, e.g. with a move at . He will gain the same result as with this line of play here.

  • White gained one point of territory at the top ().
  • Black gained three points of territory through the defence of his lower left corner ().

The comparison of the final positions in the right half of the board (Professional Solution at the left) shows:

  • White captured Black's hasami-tsuke stones at the top, so gaining three points of territory ()
  • White got the point of territory in the centre ().

In total, White's gained one point of territory, compared with the Professional Solution.

White wins by one point.
