: ( 718; 730d)
White plays the classical atari in the top left corner "early".

The outcome of the Main Semeai is decided with the creation of the oversized nakade at the left edge.
Therefore White must start the endgame at the left side of the board "early" – following the advice of Prof. Jeong SooHyun 9p ( 810) – if she wants to keep Black from playing the hiki of later (after she will have lost a move in the Main Semeai either after the kikashi of Michael Redmond 9p in the bamboo joint – 738a – or while preventing that black move – 730g).

However, White must not start with the tsuke of Yamada Shinji 9p, instead.

: ( 730b)
Black is forced to follow the "usual" course of the Professional Solution.

He cannot play tenuki for occupying the guzumi-point of at the top right; he would lose the game by one point.

: ( 730c)
Black has to connect his cutting point in the upper left corner.

Again, he is unable to deviate from the "usual" course of the Professional Solution by playing guzumi at , instead. Doing so would again result in a loss by one point.

:
White occupies the guzumi-point.
Both sides follow the course of the Professional Solution.

: ( 730ca)
Black might choose the Hasami-Tsuke Sequence (, , , ), instead. He will also achieve a drawn game, but has to avoid falling into a surprising trap.

, :
The mutual occupation of opponent's liberties in the Main Semeai begins.
White can start the remaining endgame on the left side, with a move at , at any moment she likes.

The game ends in a draw (jigo).
