2007 - A Second Throw-in Seems Possible

(Referenced by 801; 835; 877)

:
In his Go World commentary [LIT. 2], Fujisawa Hideyuki said that Black must not throw-in for a second time at . The reason given was that Black's upper right group lost an additional liberty, and that this led to an unfavourable outcome in a semeai. We could not find such a semeai, and since then we have used the second throw-in in our variations to distinguish clearly between them and the professional variations.
A discussion on this topic starts later ( 914). The effect of the second throw-in on the Capture Variation of the solution, shown above, is a net gain of one point for Black.

So, White's advantage is reduced to two points (with 71st Black stone), respectively to one point (without 71st Black stone).

Please note that, from here on, we use the second throw-in in all our variations.
