Timing of the Guzumi Without

Harry's Hasami-Tsuke Sequence (2022)

VAR (.1)

: ( 1872)

White's atari in the Guzumi Area could be played at any time, in principle.
KataGo still has a preference for capturing the hanezeki's tail too early. If so, we will always manually choose the runner-up move.

:
White gives atari in the nakade.

:
White captures Black's single stone at the upper edge.

The ensuing endgame is the same as in the superordinate variation.

...

:
Black gives atari at White's left-hand-group.

Please remember that Black must enforce the dissolving of the hanezeki although his large group in the upper right is already alive. Otherwise, White would win the game by a large margin.

: (B 1874)
White must capture the hanezeki's tail with just now.

If she occupied another neutral point with , Black would not give atari at her left-hand group with , so adding another stone in the nakade that would become a White prisoner.

Capture Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation, ...

  • Black destroyed one point of White's territory at the top.
  • White's cumulated gain in the nakade area is three points.

In total, White gained two points.

White + 4 => White + 6
