Variations of Our Solution (Ib)

KataGo's 2021 Solution

VAR

: ( 58aa)
White occupies a liberty of Black's nakade stones.

We inserted this alternative move manually. The sequence below shows KataGo's continuation (in a selfplay game).

:
Black plays the atari at White's two stones in the lower left as early as possible.

:
White captures the nakade "early".

:
KataGo likes to split the Nakade Sequence. White plays an unusual inside attachment in the upper left corner (instead of playing Yamada's tsuke at ).

:
This hasami-tsuke is KataGo's favoured reply, immediately strengthening the corner.

We think that a Black hane at would be also feasible. Please refer to this principle line ( 58ap), where this move has been played much earlier, for details.

:
White continues the sequence in the upper left corner.

:
Black chooses the "usual" block / atari at the upper edge here.

:
White inserts a kikashi in the upper right corner, ...

:
... before starting the endgame in the lower left "early".

We have reached a change in the order of moves with the superordinate variation.

The final scores of the game will become White + 2 / Black + 4.
