Additionally, there are seven external liberties in the upper right, five direct ones (), and two approach-move liberties ().
Black will connect the hanezeki's tail with , once he has reduced the number of shared liberties to five. He will win the ensuing semeai and capture White's centre group.

White has to stop Black from doing so by taking this point herself.

Please note that the ko at does not help White, as Black has an internal ko threat at at the upper edge.
