Variations of Our Solution (IIIb)

Tricking KataGo (Triple-Ko)

VAR (C) (A) (.2)

: ( 222aa)
White connects her three stones, erasing Black's opportunity to play throw-in at this point.

(108 222ma)
Black captures White's single stone in the upper left corner here.

He might consider playing the guzumi, instead, but he will become worse in the Semeai Variation, if he really does.

:
White occupies the guzumi point.

: (112 222mu)
Black continues with the Main Semeai, also defending his territory in the left centre.

Inserting Michael Redmond's kikashi in the bamboo joint, instead, is mistake here; White would gain one point overall.

:
White does not connect her two stones in the lower left, but keeps Black still par with the Punishment Semeai Liberty Level, instead.

Otherwise, Black could gain by connecting his hasami-tsuke stone with and / or play the large endgame of descending to in the lower left corner.

:
Black must only connect once at the upper edge.

:
White starts the endgame at the left side "early".

:
White captures Black's hasami-tsuke stone.

Hereafter, Black must not play any reduction.

White will play the hane at after her decision point.
Black will play at in the Capture Variation only.

Capture Variation:

Compared to the super²ordinate variation ...

  • White's cumulated gain in the upper left corner and at the top is two points.
  • White's cumulated gain in the lower left is two points.
  • White did not capture Black's stone at the lower edge, so losing two points.
  • Black destroyed one point of White's territory in the centre.

In total, White gained one point.

White + 2 => White + 3

Semeai Variation:

Compared to the super²ordinate variation ...

  • White's cumulated gain in the upper left corner and at the top is two points.
  • White's cumulated gain in the lower left is two points.
  • White did not capture Black's stone at the lower edge, so losing two points.
