Variations of Our Solution (II)

VAR (L) (C)

: ( 390)
White plays tenuki. This move in the top left corner, here chosen as an example, corresponds with the F-path after the guzumi ( 434), White's strongest option there.

:
Black will capture White's two stones, gaining two eyes.

:

The situation on the board is now comparable to that after in the F-path of the tenuki variations after Black's guzumi ( 434). White has just entered Black's top left corner, while Black's large group on the right is already alive.

In the top right corner, White will get ten points of territory (, 8 * ) against seven points (2 * , , ) for Black.

///:

In the matchable variation after the guzumi, White also has ten points of territory (, 8 * ) in this corner, but Black has got only three (, ) .

So, White is four points worse with Black's kikashi in the bamboo joint, compared to the guzumi variations. The F-path will end with nine points for Black now.
