No Early Kikashi

VAR (.1) (.1)

: ( 648fa)
White throws-in in the lower left corner, threatening to kill Black's entire group on the left side.

:
Black gives atari at White's two stones in the lower left.
If Black captures these stones, his group at the left is alive, so there would be no need to connect at any longer.

:
White connects in the hanezeki.

If she connected at , instead, Black would be forced to play the solid connection at to live. Thereafter, would return to the main line here, resulting in White +2 / Black + 4.

:
Black captures in the lower left.

Black is par with the Punishment Semeai Liberty Level; therefore he is unable to play the push at the top in the moment. Please refer to ( 648ap) for details.

White continues with the Main Semeai.

The point of lC at the upper edge is still open, so White will not benefit from blocking at , instead.
Also, White must not mistakenly connect her single stone at the upper edge. Black would first force with , and connect at thereafter, unnecessarily gaining one point of territory in the left centre.

:
White must capture the nakade.

:
White simplifies the presentation by continuing in the left centre.

:
Black has to connect.

:
White connects her single stone at the upper edge, so losing one tempo in the Main Semeai.

Alternatively, she might consider taking territory in the left centre with , but which will not affect the final scores.

:
Now, Black is able to play his kikashi at the top.

:
Black destroys White's potential territory in the left centre.

Black must not play any reduction.

Please assume Black's second kikashi in the hanezeki (, ) played before.
