Please assume the rejection of Dany's Sacrifice and Black's second kikashi in the hanezeki (, ) played before.

Later, Black will be forced to capture at "early", and to connect thereafter. White will use her kikashi , in the lower left corner to make it mandatory for Black to capture at before the end of the game.

Capture Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • White's cumulated gain at the upper edge is one point.
  • White did not get any territory in the centre, so losing two points.

In total, White lost one point.

White + 2 => White + 1

Semeai Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • White's cumulated gain at the upper edge is one point.
  • Black did not get any territory in the centre, so losing four points.
  • Black's loss in the lower left corner is one point.

In total, White gained six points.

Black + 5 => White + 1
