Black already destroyed additional White territory at the top, so White has to capture the tail, instead of "peacefully" connecting at .

White uses her sente to capture some Black stones at the left edge.

She cannot play at , instead, because she already lost too many points by capturing the hanezeki's tail "early", without getting additional prisoners through the successive reduction of the nakade at the left edge.

We display an amateurish idea of the succeeding endgame. We think that White is safely ahead, and Black does not have any chance for recovery.

White will win the game by at least five points.
