Variations of Our Solution (IIIa)

No Early Kikashi

VAR (.2)

: ( 648aa)
White plays the central attachment in the centre.

:
Please note that this move creates an approach-move liberty () for White's group, and so does not lose a tempo in the Main Semeai (as Black's connection at did).

:
Black defends his lower left corner.

Capturing at is out of the question. In this case, it is quite evident that Black would fall below the Punishment Semeai Liberty Level.

Continuing at the top with pushing at , would be a fatal mistake, too. However, the loss of one tempo in the Main Semeai might not necessarily obvious, so please refer to ( 648ap) for details.

White connects her single stone at the upper edge here.

Alternatively, she might block at , or create some points of territory in the left centre with . She will achieve the same final scores.

:
White lost one tempo in the Main Semeai, so Black is free again to play his kikashi at the top.

Black plays 2/2 reductions.

Please assume the rejection of Dany's Sacrifice and Black's second kikashi in the hanezeki (, ) played before.

Compared to the superordinate variation ...
