White starts the classical endgame with at top left now, because Black cannot prevent the loss of his group at top right. and are the only endgame moves which are mentioned in the published solution ([LIT. 1; page 246]; 754) of Fujisawa Hideyuki. We now follow a sequence due to Cheng's 1988 book ([LIT. 3; page 353]).

However, as we now know, letting Black capture three White stones with after this endgame move in the top left is not correct. Instead, White must capture Black's centre string at , thereby gaining an advantage of four points.

Black must now give atari on White's four stones. Otherwise, White will prevent this by a move at , so gaining one point of territory at 156.

Black captures the White corner group in the hanezeki.

:
White captures Black's group in the upper right corner, and so saves her group in the temporary seki.

Black wins by four points.
