1982 - Fujisawa's Solution

The "Fujisawa solution" by Fujisawa Hideyuki 9p, and published in his Japanese book [LIT. 1] as well as in the Go World article [LIT. 2], follows the sequence shown here. Please not that - at this time - neither the second throw-in of our solution (with at 20; 768) nor the "early" Hanezeki Exchange of Cheng Xiaoliu 6p (with at , and at ; 715) were played. It should also be noted that White immediately captures Black's nakade on the left side, with . This is the first ever published solution. The order of its later moves has been modified several times by newer professional solutions.

For the last time in this solution, Black plays oki into White's eye on the left side. White now has the choice between a move at , entering what we call the "Semeai Variation", and a move at , starting what we call the "Capture Variation".
