New Story Line 2022
The Earliest Possible Moment
for Playing my Guzumi
KataGo's 2021 version seriously considers playing my Guzumi extremely early in the game, after only four moves of the hanezeki creation sequence were played. The next moment when my Guzumi becomes a valid alternative option, is after the creation of the hanezeki when the hanezeki's tail has reached a length of four stones. In this case (my Guzumi being inserted manually) KataGo chooses an alternative solution that leaves the hanezeki unresolved, turning both early throw-in therein into technical mistakes. Without these throw-in being played "early", KataGo will decide to continue with the Guzumi Exchange.
Let's enter the world of KataGo ...
: ( 2022MainLine) Other candidate moves at this time are the also very early push into White's upper right corner, and the classical continuation in the centre.
: Other candidate moves are and , continuing with the creation of the temporary seki in the middle of the right side first. Both these alternative options simply lead to changes in the order of moves. Please note that KataGo does not consider any tenuki for establishing a potential alternative solution sequence so very early in the game.
: In its normal Playing Mode, KataGo likes to insert the reduction of White's upper left corner first, starting with the push at . White will win the game by two points.
At another moment in time in KataGo's world, after a longer stopover for analytical purposes in the world of amateurs ...
Referenced by ( 2022MainLine) : Please note that the hanezeki's tail has a length of four stones. Top favourite is still the "classical" move at the bottom, which advances the growth of the hanezeki's tail, but in the given winrates the runner-up move is not significantly far away. We inserted this move manually. KataGo wanted to play the Guzumi even earlier; at a tail length of only two stones, but which is a mistake that is probably hidden behind KataGo's event horizon. For further details, please refer to CHAPTER "Timing of the Guzumi (2022)" ( 1814).
: It is striking that KataGo does not favour the supposedly easier route and completes the Guzumi Sequence with . : : : : : : The ensuing sequence can be found in the history of our investigations, as a variation of Our Solution 2021 ... White will win the game by two points.
However, when we determine White's territory at the end of the game, we will see that having played my Second Throw-in early in the game was a serious mistake. As was Fujisawa Hideyuki's First Throw-in as well. In view of the unresolved hanezeki, these two sacrifices were merely lost stones.
After another, short, detour into the world of amateurs in KataGo's world ...

: Playing tenuki to e.g. or , in order to strengthen White's formation at the bottom, is clearly assessed as a mistake.
: Since the Guzumi Exchange was played, the hanezeki will be resolved at the end of the game.

; Black will continue the known path of the solution with a move at . White will win the game by two points.
