Variations of Our Solution (IIIa)

No Early Kikashi

VAR (.1) (.2)

: ( 648ab)
White plays the central attachment in order to destroy Black's potential eye in the centre.

:
Please note that White's move does not lose a tempo, because it creates an approach-move liberty () for her left-hand group.

: ( A 648cu)
The order of moves matters here. Black should not defend his lower left corner first.

Black must play his kikashi in the hanezeki, instead. Otherwise, White will gain decisively by playing there.

: ( A 648cv)
White connects her single stone at the upper edge. But this move is a mistake, as it was Black's previous move in the lower left.

She must take the point of herself, instead.

:
Black plays his kikashi at the top.

Black plays 2/2 reductions.

Please assume the rejection of Dany's Sacrifice and Black's second kikashi in the hanezeki (, ) played before.

Capture Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • Black did not capture at the upper edge, so White gained two points.
  • Black's cumulated gain in the lower left corner is two points.
  • Black did not get an eye in the centre, so losing one point.
  • Black connected his single stone in the lower right, so gaining two points.

In total, White lost one point.

White + 2 => White + 1
