Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • White's cumulated gain at the upper edge is three points.
  • Black got one point of territory in the left centre.
  • White did not get any territory in the left centre, so losing two points.
  • Black does not need to capture White's two stones in the lower left corner, so gaining one point.
  • Black captured an additional two White stones in the lower left, so gaining four points.
  • White captured Black's stone in the lower right, so gaining two points.
  • Black got one point of additional territory in the hanezeki.

In total, White lost four points.

White + 2 => Black + 2

Semeai Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • White's cumulated gain at the upper edge is three points.
