Variations of Our Solution (IIIa)

No Early Kikashi

VAR (.3) (.2)

: ( 648kd)
Black does not intend to fight a ko that he will be unable to win, so he connects at "early".

:
White connects her single stone at the upper edge in return, losing one tempo in the Main Semeai similar to Black's move before.

:
The Main Semeai continues.

Black plays 2/3 reductions.

Please assume the rejection of Dany's Sacrifice and Black's second kikashi in the hanezeki (, ) played before.

Capture Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation ...

  • Black did not destroy two points of White's territory in the upper right.
  • White did not capture Black's stone in the lower right, so losing two points.

In total, gains and losses compensate for each other.

White + 2 => White + 2

Semeai Variation:

Compared to the superordinate variation (arithmetically) ...

  • White captured two Black stones less in the upper right, so losing two points.
  • White captured an additional Black stone in the lower right, so gaining two points.

In total, gains and losses compensate for each other.

White + 2 => White + 2
